Aggravated Assault is a serious charge. It is typically a 2nd degree felony, punishable by 2 to 20 years in prison and a $10,000 fine. Under certain circumstances, it can be charged as a 1st degree felony (5 to 99 years in prison). A case of aggravated assault usually involves either serious bodily injury or the use of a deadly weapon such as a firearm.

Assault family violence is a Class A Misdemeanor, punishable by up to 1 year in jail and a $4,000 fine. Although it is a misdemeanor, it has serious consequences, such as a lifetime ban on firearm ownership under federal law. If you are charged with Assault Family Violence with a Previous Conviction, the charge is enhanced to a 3rd degree felony (2 to 10 years in prison).
